Playing at the Qualicum Legion, the Allwood Finishers hosted the Island Equipment Rental Warriors to 33 games of darts.  After the warm-up doubles games, the Finishers took the first set 5-0 and the Warriors responded by taking the second set 5-0.  Both teams played evenly through the next three sets, but the final push in the last set ended in a 17 to 16 Allwood Finishers win over the Warriors.  Leading the wins for the Finishers, Gerry James took five of his six matches, with Captain Jolene Swanson and Larry Fuller each taking four wins.  Larry was also team high scorer with a 140, 130 and 114.  Silent but deadly, Dale Simpson was the top winner for the Warriors, walking away with four double-outs in five matches, followed by three wins each from Fish Trouton and Colin Adams.  Colin was team High Scorer – 140 – and got a 180 in his doubles match.  Congrats Colin on your second 180 of the season!

The Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes were Home to the Qualicum Legion Short Sighted Crew’s Away on Tuesday night.  Evenly matched throughout the evening, the Eagle Eyes won four of five legs in the last set to emerge victorious over the Crew – final score 18 to 15.  Leading the wins for the Eagle Eyes, Captain Mike McNulty and Tedd Ducker both won all five of their games; with Tedd hitting a High Out of 84 against the Crew’s Ernie Berrow.   The Crew’s Lee Page and Darren Field each won four of their five matches. Top Score went to Ron Stanley, who shot a 133; and Peter Bisiker took the team High Check-Out – 103 – landing him a spot on the 2019-2020 Leader Board.

Also at the Qualicum Legion, the eight-member B-Sharps met with the five-strong Toolshed Triples for a boisterous night of playing darts.  Arless McNeill led the Sharps with four for four wins, followed by Stan Foster with three wins in his four games. Captain Colleen McNeill had team High Score of 140.  The Triples were busy Tuesday night, playing almost twice as many games per player as the B-Sharps, and Greg Holmes led the wins for the team, taking four doubles in his six matches. Jim Hood shot a 134 and a 121 to land the team High Score for the night.  Final score – 17 to 16 – for the B-Sharps!

Meeting at the Eagles Hall, the Parksville Legion Shooters showed up with darts a-blazing and left the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows wondering ‘what just happened?’ when the chalk dust settled and the final score was 27 to 6 for the Legion Shooters.  Leading the wins for the Shooters, Larry MacDonald and Thom Ford were unbeatable in all five of their matches, followed by four wins each from the rest of the team.  Larry was High Scorer for the Shooters with scores of 140, 121 and 100 x3.  The Arrows Sonja Twamley and Poul Reimer were able to take two wins apiece from the Shooters; Straight Arrows' High Score – 138 – went to Ron Keast.

Playing at the Parksville Legion, the Comfort Group X-Men and the Qualicum Legion Bulls Hitters battled it out at the oche, with the Home Team taking the win at the end of the night.  Starting strong, the X-Men won all three sets of doubles, and the first two sets of singles.  The Bulls Hitters rallied and took the extra point in each of the last four sets, but it wasn’t quite enough to overtake the X-Men – final score:  17 to 16 for the X-Men.  Leading the wins for The Men, Glen Dilworth only missed a chance to double out in one of his five matches, followed by Steve Stewart and Todd Burnham with three wins each to add to the team score.  Top wins for the Bulls Hitters was a three-way tie of four wins in six for Alan Farmer, Bernie Brockway and Ray Jones.  High Scorer for the Hitters, Ray was slaying it with scores of 126, 121 and 100.  Congrats to Alan Farmer for his first Perfect Score of the 2019-2020 season!!  Way to go Alan!  Welcome to the Leader Board!

Before you submit your nominations for the Executive for 2020-2021 Season, please CONFIRM with your nominees that they agree to be nominated.  This saves the current Executive time, so they don’t have to verify each nomination, and gives them more time to plan the next Round of darts and organize the end-of-season banquet.

League Meat Shoot at the Qualicum Legion this Saturday, March 14th.   Doors open for registration at 1pm and play begins at 1:30pm.  $10 Entry Fee, plus Snowball draw with 100% payout.  Open to public, everyone welcome!
