Week 18
Seems the Snow Day threw a few dart players off – three teams played their final games of the 2018-2019 Season with only four players. Eagles Hall hosted four of the Allwood Finishers and the Qualicum Legion Warriors for their final match of the season. Despite being short-handed, strong finishing by both Larry Fuller and Gerry James resulted in a win of 18-15 over their opponents. Not missing a double, both Larry and Gerry went six for six, followed by Captain, Jolene Swanson, with three wins to her credit. High score for the Finishers went to Larry, with a 137, 122, and 111. Top wins for the Warriors was split between Larry MacDonald and Kelly Kovacs – with three each. Warrior high score belonged to Dale Simpson with a 138.

Qualicum Legion’s B-Sharps had a full complement when they hosted the four-member Eagles Hall Straight Arrows, ending in a close final score of 17 to 16 for the Straight Arrows. Straight Arrows’ Paul Reimer was the check-out champ for his team – five of six matches in his favour, and a perfect score of 180! Congrats Paul! Right behind Paul, Ron Keast and Don McIlhargey, each won four games. High scorer for the Arrows was Don McIlhargey with a 140, 125 and 105. Cool and calm, Arless McNeill, led the B-Sharps wins with four of his five games played earning him a point each. High score went to Stan Foster – shooting a 120 and 105.

Parksville Legion was a-hopping with the home team – Bulls Hitters hosting the X-Men – final score 18 to 15 for the Bulls Hitters. Hitting the doubles, Angie Kienas and Alan Farmer each won five of six matches played. High score for the Hitters went to Alan with a 140. X-Men’s Pony Moore led the pack with four wins in six matches and high score of 120, 105 and 100x2. Glen Dilworth showed his chops hitting consistent tons and doubling out half his six games.

Filling up the other half of the dart boards at the Parksville Legion, the Cascadia Bristle Bashers hosted the Qualicum Legion Short Sighted Crew. Playing as expected, Terry Strawson, Steve Collins and Tedd Ducker each brought four wins in five matches to their team. Steve was high scorer for the Bashers with a 140, 121 and 100x5. Back from travels off the rock, Greg Simmons led the wins for the Crew, as well as high scores of 140x2, 125 and 100x4. Captain Don Punter made it on to the Leader Board by shooting a 171 – Congrats Don!

Also playing short-handed, the Toolshed Triples, met the Parksville Legion Shooter’s at the Eagles Hall – starting with a 7 point advantage, the Shooters were victorious with 23 wins to 10 overall. Thom Ford led the shoot-out by not missing a double, and hitting scores of 119 and 116. High scorer for the Shooters was Lorraine Hopps, hitting a 121 and 100x2. Displaying skills from Friday night practices, Alan Barry was the top scorer for the Triples with four of six matches ending in his favour. High scorer for the Triples was veteran player, Mike McNulty, who shot a 140, 121x3, 110, 101 and 100. Sue Barry also showed skills developed on Friday nights, winning two matches against very formidable opponents.

Week 17 Results
Parksville Legion’s Bulls Hitters hit more than the Bullseyes on Tuesday night against the Qualicum Legion B-Sharps, besting them 23 to 10. Leading the wins for the Bulls Hitters were Angie Kienas and Alan Farmer – both missing the double on only one of their six games played. Ray Jones and Barb Marsh were right behind with four of six games to their favour. High scorer for the Hitters, with a 116, was Ray Jones. Leading the defense for the B-Sharps, with four wins in six games, Arless McNeill also had a 76 checkout. High scorer for the B-Sharps was Captain Colleen McNeill with 134, 115 and 101.

The League’s top team and bottom team tried to meet in the middle at the Eagles Hall, but the Cascadia Bristle Bashers weren’t about to let that happen – defeating the Triples 28 to 5. Three of the six Bristle Bashers won all their matches, only Noella Ross, Don Enocksen and Tedd Ducker let wins go to the Triples. Terry Strawson and Don Enocksen each shot a 140, and Tedd Ducker achieved a perfect score of 180 – Congrats Tedd!! Not to give up without a fight – Toolshed Triples’ Mike McNulty shot a 135, 108 and 100x2; Alan Barry shot a 121 and 100; Jim Hood a 118; Jackie Anderson shot a 108 and Wendy Haines shot a 106, as well as took two wins from the Bristle Bashers.

The Allwood Finishers met at the Qualicum Beach Legion to get schooled in the art of doubling out by the Short Sighted Crew. Both teams were short on players – five on each side – and long on high scores – but the 23 wins went to the Crew, with a mere 10 to the Finishers. Most wins for the Crew went to Ron Stanley and Don Punter, five of six matches each. High scorer for the Crew was Peter Bisiker, who shot a 140, 121 & 100. Steve Bird and Don Punter shot 134 and 133 respectively. Legends in their sport, Larry Fuller and Gerry James each tucked three wins under their belts. High score went to Anita Hopps, who shot two 140’s. Other than doubling out on the Finishers only successful doubles match, Captain Jolene Swanson did not add much to the scores that night – rumour has it she is considering taking up bowling.

The Eagles Hall Straight Arrows hosted the Qualicum Beach Warriors to a fun night of darts. Captain Ruth Kovacs was back in the line-up of six, as was the Arrows’ Thomas Connelly, home from the East. With the full team roster on board, the Warriors outshot the Arrows to a 21 to 12 victory. Leading the wins for the Warriors, Chad “Fish” Trouton didn’t miss a trick and shot high scores of 140, 123, and 100x2. Ron Hession and Larry MacDonald followed closely with four wins each. Dale Simpson showed some pepper with scores of 138 and 100. Leading the wins for the Arrows was Sonja Twamley with three wins and scores of 131 and 123. High score went to Thomas Connelly, christening his return with a 140.

The Parksville Legion was a busy spot Tuesday night with the match of the Legion rivals – X-Men and Shooters. Doing what they do best, the Shooters won 23 of the 33 matches and had two players leave undefeated – Lorraine Hopps and Thom Ford – with six wins each. High score for the Shooters went to Thom with a 129, 122, 112 and 105. Lorraine shot a 123, and Captain Lloyd Ausland shot 119 and 100x2.Leading the pack for X-Men, Glen Dilworth won three of five matches and shot 100x3. High score for the X-Men went to Rob Sparrow with a 144, along with a 104.
