Week 3 Winter Season
A-Division
Parksville Legion’s Shooters hosted the Qualicum Legion Warriors to a fun fast-paced night of darts. Evenly matched set for set, the Warriors took the win in the final set, winning 18 to 15. Back in form, Fish Trouton led the Warriors in wins, not missing a single match all evening – one with a 92 check-out - and hitting scores of 160, 140x2 and 100x3 - putting him on the Leader Board twice this week. Warriors Larry MacDonald won four of five matches by hitting not only the necessary doubles, but with scores of 100x4, 140 and the Perfect Score – 180! Congratulations Larry! Pulling his weight for the Shooters, Pat Bannister led the wins with four of six matches to his credit. High score for the Shooters went to Lorraine Hopps – 138 – and high out went to Viviane Papineau with a 92 check-out too!

The Eagles Hall was opened up Tuesday night for the Allwood Finishers to play the Parksville Legion Bulls Hitters. Music and merriment were in abundance, along with really closely matched games, with the win for the night going to the Bulls Hitters - 18 to 15 over the Finishers. Leading the wins for the Hitters, Angie Kienas and Alan Farmer each won four of six. High score went to Alan Farmer with a 150, Bernie Brockway shot a 130 and Angie Kienas shot a 125, 125 and had an 88 check-out. Larry Fuller, Allwood Finisher’s consistent “top performer”, won four of five matches – with scores of 118 and 116. Pulling the magic out with the music, Mike Jacobs won three of six matches with a high score of 127. Top score for the Finishers went to “Dirty Harry” Van Heerwaarden, who shot a 140, 116, and 100x2. Almost making the Leader Board, Captain Jolene Swanson, managed an 80 check-out against Peter Spinks in a most curious way!

The Qualicum Legion – home of the brand new Blade 5 boards – was the setting for the dart match between Legion’s Short Sighted Crew and the Cascadia Bristle Bashers, who won 25 of the matches against the home team. Terry Strawson and Noella Ross led the Basher wins with five for five each. Top score for the Bashers went to Steve Collins, who shot 140x2, 135, 121, 114 and 110. Tedd Ducker jumped to the top of the Perfect Score list after hitting his second 180 of the season. Congrats Tedd! Two Crew members were able to get a couple games each away from the Bashers, Steve Bird and Peter Bisiker – by hitting scores up to 138.

B-Division
Playing their final match of the 2018-2019 season, the X-Men and the Toolshed Triples met at the Parksville Legion, with the X-Men out-doubling the Triples 23 times to their 10. Three of the Men tied for top wins, Glen Dilworth, Pony Moore and Rob Stewart, each winning five of their six singles matches. High scorer for the Men was Steve Stewart with a 140, 132 and 118. Glen Dilworth was on form, shooting scores of 123, 125, 121 and 100. Topping the wins for the Toolshed Triples, Alan Barry doubled out three of his six matches. High scorer for the Triples was Mike McNulty with a 133.

Playing on the “other half” of the Blade 5 boards, the Qualicum Legion B-Sharps hosted the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows for their final game of the season. A strong start by the B-Sharps petered out by the fifth set, resulting in a 19 to 14 win for the Straight Arrows. Leading the wins for the Arrows was Don McIlhargey, who lost only one of six matches and topped the high scores with a 140 and 100x2. Right behind him, Paul Reimer, won four of six and shot 121 and 100. Leading the wins for B-Sharps was Arless McNeill, who also only lost one of his matches, and hit two 100’s. Stan Foster pulled three wins out of his five matches. High scorer for the B-Sharps was Captain Colleen McNeill, who a 101.

Week 4 Winter Results
Two of the three matches this week ended in the same results – 24 to 9.
First to get whitewashed, the Allwood Finishers met the Bristle Bashers at the Eagles Hall. It all started off well enough, Captain Jolene Swanson – with a set-up from partner Larry Fuller – hit a remarkable 75 out against Terry Strawson and Noella Ross, in the doubles match – but not much else happened for Jolene after that. Larry Fuller went on to win four of his six matches, hitting scores of 140, 123, 101 and 100. High score for the Finishers went to Mike Jacobs – a whopping 153! Bristle Bashers’ Richard Rempel and Steve Collins won all five of their matches. Terry Strawson hit a 140 to get high score for the Bashers, and Don Enockson had an 83 check out on his only win of the evening.

Second match with the same final score, the Parksville Legion Bulls Hitters, met at the Qualicum Legion to out double the Warriors 24 to 9. Leading the wins for the Bulls Hitters, Alan Farmer, didn’t miss a double out all night! Right behind Alan, Bernie Brockway, Angie Kienas and Peter “Spinksy” Spinks each won four of five matches. High score for the Hitters went to Ray Jones, who shot a 135 and a 102. Failing to “get into the groove”, Larry MacDonald and Chad Trouton were the top winners for the Warriors – each winning two of five matches. High scorer for the Warriors was Chad “Fish” Trouton with a 140 and a 121.

The third match of the week was a bit more evenly won between the Parksville Legion Shooters and the Qualicum Legion Short Sighted Crew, ending in a 19-14 win for the Crew. Starting off strong, The Crew kept up the pressure until the last two sets, when the Shooters to seven of the ten available points. Top wins for the Crew went to Greg Simmons with five of his six matches to his favour, with top scores of 140x2, 100x5. Ernie Berrow shot a 134, 121 and 114. Top wins for the Shooters went to Thom Ford, who won all but one game - the game against Greg. Top scorer for the Shooters was Lorraine Hopps, who shot a 140 and 117.

Week 2 Winter Season
A-Division
The Legion Shooters met with the Allwood Finishers at the Parksville Legion on Tuesday night. Closely matched, each team did their best with a final score of 17 to 16 for the Legion Shooters. Top wins went to the Shooter’s Thom Ford, who didn’t miss a double all night long, and got scores of 100 and 118. High scorer for the Shooters was Captain Lloyd Ausland, who shot a 133. Most prolific high scores went to Lorraine Hopps who shot 123x2, 115, 100, as well as high out of 72. Leading the wins for the Finishers, Larry Fuller doubled out four of his five matches, and shot 128, 133 and 138 (in the same game even!). Captain Jolene Swanson surprised herself, and the rest of the team, by winning three of her five matches and doubling out the doubles game as well!

Also at the Parksville Legion, the Cascadian Bristle Bashers hosted the Qualicum Legion Bulls Hitters. Off to a great start, the Bulls Hitters won two of the three doubles matches, but didn’t get many more opportunities to double out after that, as the Bristle Bashers beat them to it twenty-six times. League top-shots, Terry Strawson and Richard Rempel, didn’t miss a double. High scores were rampant throughout the Bashers night, most team mates hit at least one 140. Top wins for the Bulls Hitters went to Angie Kienas, who stole two games away from the Bashers, and shot a high score of 122.

The Qualicum Legion was the meeting place for two home teams, the Short Sighted Crew and the Warriors. Closely matched throughout the night, it was the final game of the night, between Ron Hession and Ernie Berrow, which decided the night’s winners – The Warriors 17, Short Sighted Crew 16. Top wins for the Warriors was three-way tie of 3 each for Captain Ruth Kovacs, Larry MacDonald and Ron Hession. High score went to Kelly Kovacs, who shot a 100, 115, 120 and 140. Top wins for the Short Sighted Crew was Steve Bird, who went five for five and shot a 140. Ron Stanley was throwing tons and a 140, winning three of his five games.

B-Division
The Eagles Hall was home to the second week of B-Division matches. Home team, Eagles Hall Straight Arrows, hosted the Toolshed Triples. Starting strong and staying strong, the Arrows out-doubled the Triples 21 to 12. Ron Keast and Don McIlhargey led the wins for the Arrows, both winning all but one of their matches. High score went to Captain Shirley Ewert, who shot a 127. Paul Reimer was consistent with the tons, hitting them four times, along with a 121.

It was a meeting of the “Alphabet Teams” on Tuesday night when the Qualicum Legion B-Sharps and the Parksville Legion’s X-Men, met for 33 games of darts at the Qualicum Legion – final score – 25 to 8 for the X-Men. Leading the X-Men in wins, Glen Dilworth shot five for five, as well as his first 180 of the season. Congrats Glen! Leading the wins for the B-Sharps, Arless McNeill, missed only one double out, winning 4 of his 5 matches. High score for the Sharps went to Captain Colleen McNeill, who hit a 140.
