Week One Highlights
The 2019-2020 Season begins!
In their premier performance, the newly formed team, Eagle Eyes, bested the Straight Arrows at their joint home venue – the Eagles Hall – final score 22 to 11. Tedd Ducker led the wins for the Eagle Eyes with five for five matches in his favour, followed by Captain Mike McNulty and Harry Van Heerwaarden with four wins each. Practicing all summer and playing Friday nights paid off for Harry too – he shot two 140’s. High out of the night went to Tedd Ducker with 111. Leading the wins for the Straight Arrows was Paul Reimer who doubled out first in three of his five matches and had the Arrows’ high score of 140. Don McIlhargey had a high out of 104 in one of his two wins.

Qualicum Legion’s B-Sharps played home team to the Allwood Finishers and, despite first night jitters, the Allwood Finishers scored 26 wins to the B-Sharps 7 wins. Larry Fuller and Richard Rempel were unbeatable and Captain Jolene Swanson doubled out four of her five matches. High scorers for the Finishers were Richard Rempel with 100, 134 and 140x2; Larry Fuller was most prolific with scores of 100, 121, 122, 123 and 140. High out went to Gerry James with a 102 checkout, and scores of 100, 108, 125. Arless McNeill and Betty-Ann Moffatt won two matches each and Arless had high score of 123, followed by Betty-Ann with a 121.

Playing at the Qualicum Legion, the Short Sighted Crew hosted the Bulls Hitters. Wins were even up to the fourth leg when the Short Sighted Crew sprang ahead, final score 20 to 13 for the Crew. New to the Crew, Lee Page, along with Ron Stanley and Don Punter, led the wins with four each. High score was 140 and Ernie Berrow and Ron Stanley started off the night’s singles matches by scoring one each. Leading the wins for the Bulls Hitters, Bernie Brockway missed only one double out, as well as a high score of 140. Alan Farmer had three wins and a high score of 134.

Cascadia Bristle Bashers played the Parksville Legion’s Shooters on opening night. Evenly matched until the fifth leg, the Bashers pulled out their best darts and came ahead with 20 wins to the Shooters 13. Leading the Bristle Bashers wins, Terry Strawson claimed five wins in six matches. Captain Mike Driscoll and Steve Collins doubled out four of their six matches. High scorer for the Bashers was Noella Ross with a 133. Leading the Shooter wins, Larry MacDonald won five of his six matches, and had scores of 100x2, 125, and 140x2. Captain Lloyd Ausland shot two 140’s and won three of his six games.

Sponsored by Island Equipment Rentals, the Warriors are playing out of the Parksville Legion this year. The Legion’s X-Men started their sophomore season with new players, Dave Wishlow and Todd Burnham, filling their roster. Closely matched all night the X-Men got one more win than the Warriors – final score was 17 to 16. X-Man Glen Dilworth was the leader in wins with four of five matches to his favour. Newcomers showed their worth with Todd Burnham garnering the high score of 140, followed by Dave Wishlow’s 134. Kicking off his return to the League, Jim Fraser, playing for the Warriors, won four of his six matches and had scores of 100x2, 125, 134 and 140. High scorer for the Warriors was Ron Hession with a 152, putting him at the top of the Leader Board for Men’s High Score.

2019 - 2020 Schedule v 2.0 uploaded!
The new and improved version of the schedule has been uploaded to the website and is correct. Paper copies of the schedule will be available at all the venues for those who don't have computers.
