Week 4 Dart Highlights
The Parksville X-Men met with the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes at the Parksville Legion and, despite a great start to the night, confusion reigned and in the end, the game needs to be replayed to be entered into the league stats. This is a cautionary tale of why it’s important to stick to the rotation sheet supplied by the league.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Following the rotation sheet, the Allwood Finishers six players met with the five Qualicum Legion Bulls Hitters for a fun night of darts at the Qualicum Legion. Starting off strong, the Allwood Finishers kept their lead throughout the match and ended victorious with 21 points to the Bulls Hitters 12. Proving why he's at the top of the league, the Finishers Larry Fuller had a full pull and won all five of his matches, followed by Richard Rempel and Captain Jolene Swanson, both winning four of their five games. High scorer for the Finishers was Mike Jacobs with a 165, putting him in a tie for top score of the season with Don Punter. Top wins for the Bulls Hitters was a three way tie between Angie Kienas, Bernie Brockway and Ray Jones, each winning three of their six matches. High score for the Hitters went to Ray Jones, who shot a 121 and a 138. High out for the Hitters was Bernie Brockway with a 90 check out!
Illness struck the Qualicum Legion’s B-Sharps, leaving them with only four players to play against the five Cascadia Bristle Bashers at the Qualicum Legion. With the seven automatic wins, the Bristle Bashers managed to accumulate 25 wins. Top wins for the Bashers was Terry Strawson winning all five of his matches, as well as getting high score of 141. Don Enochson won four of his five games and had high scores of 120 and 121. Undaunted by the Bashers, the B-Sharps held their own and took eight matches from the Bashers, Arless McNeill and Dan Moffatt each winning three. High scorer for the B-Sharps was Arless with a 140, as well as 100 and a 125.
The Parksville Legion was the venue for the match between the Island Equipment Rentals Warriors and the Toolshed Triples. Leading from the get go, the Warriors won 22 matches against the Toolsheds’ 11 wins. Captain Ruth Kovacs and Fish Trouton both won all five of their matches, and Ruth also had a high out of 124, way to go Ruth! High scorer for the Warriors was Jim Fraser with 100, 101 and 123. Toolshed Triple’s Jim Hood led the team wins with three of five matches in his favour, as well as a high score of 134; a high score also achieved by newcomer, Duane Sharp.
The Short Sighted Crew were also short-handed Tuesday night, requiring them to postpone their match with the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows.
New Executive Needed
IMPORTANT LEAGUE NEWS:
Last week, our Vice President Colleen McNeill, Director Arless McNeill, Director Alan Barry resigned their elected positions; with this turn of events it is necessary to hold another election for the Executive. Rather than have General Meeting (which most won’t attend), we have decided to hold the election by write-in voting.
If you are interested in running, please contact me (Jolene) via email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 250-586-4587 and let me know what position you are interested in running for. I would need to know this before next Tuesday to include your name on the ballot.
We will be leaving an envelope with the name of the members interested in running for the two different positions and enough ballots for each player to cast their vote. The completed ballots will be placed in another envelope which your team captain will seal and sign across the flap to ensure no tampering can occur.
I thank you for your support in this endeavour, your support and participation is very important to the league as a whole.
Sincerely,
Jolene Swanson
