Week 10 Highlights
Gathering at the Parksville Legion, the Comfort Group X-Men hosted the Allwood Finishers to a fun night of darts playing on the new Blade boards. Starting off strong, the X-Men kept the Finishers on their doubles, but it was the Allwood Finishers who came out ahead in the end, final score 18-15. Leading the wins for the Finishers, Larry Fuller doubled out in five of his six matches, also shooting the teams’ high score of 140 and 100x2. Following closely behind, Gerry James won four matches and shot a 120. It was a three way tie for top wins on the X-Men’s team, Captain Pony Moore, Glen Dilworth and Fraser Vincent each won three of four matches. High scorer for the X-Men was Glen Dilworth with a 140, and 100x3.

The Qualicum Legion Bulls Hitters met with the Parksville Legion Shooters in Qualicum Tuesday night. It was a closely played first half of the match, until the Legion Shooters shot ahead to a final score 19 to 14. Top wins for the Shooters went to Larry MacDonald, who was unbeatable, and shot scores of 120, 121 and 100x2. Team high score was 140x2, shot by George Wallis. Another three way tie for wins on the Bulls Hitters, Barb Marsh, Bernie Brockway and Captain Peter Spinks each doubled out three of their six matches. Peter Spinks put himself on the Leader Board with a 162 score and Bernie Brockway also landed on the Leader Board with a high out of 93.

Eagles Hall Straight Arrows hosted the seven-player strong Qualicum Legion B-Sharps at the Eagles Hall Tuesday night. Evenly matched until the fifth leg, the Straight Arrows took all five matches in the fifth to put them ahead and come out 20 to 13 victorious. Sonja Twamley, Ron Keast and new team mate, John Curtis, each doubled out four of their five matches. Team High scorer, Ron Keast, shot a 140 and 100x2. Leading the wins for the B-Sharps, Arless McNeill doubled out for of his five matches. High scores for the team went to Stan Foster, who shot a 133, 131 and a 114.

The Short Sighted Crew were Home to the Toolshed Triples Away, and the home team took it 24 to 9. Winning all their matches, Ron Stanley and Lee Page each took five for five, followed by Peter Bisiker, Darren Field and Don Punter who won four of their five matches. High scorer for the Crew was Lee Page with 125, 121, 110 and 100x2. Leading the wins for the Toolshed Triples was Jim Hood with four of six matches ending in his favour.

Parksville Legion was the stage of the match between the Cascadia Bristle Bashers and the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes. Applying constant pressure, the Bristle Bashers doubled out two for one over the Eagle Eyes – final score 22 to 11. Successful in all five of their matches, Steve Collins and Warren Potter, lead the teams’ wins. Winning three out of five games, Don Enockson, Noella Ross and Terry Strawson, bolstered the team wins. High scorer for the Bashers was Terry Strawson with a 140, 133 and 121. Leading the wins for the Eagle Eyes Tedd Ducker doubled out four of his five matches. High scorer for the Eagles Eyes was Captain Mike McNulty with a 140.

Week 11 Darts
Meeting at the Qualicum Legion, the Short Sighted Crew hosted the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes to a well-played game of darts. Bringing along a new spare to the League, Glen Schellenberg, the Short Sighted Crew kept a solid lead over the Eagle Eyes through to the final leg – final score 23 to 10 for the Crew. Leading the wins for the Crew, Lee Page was unbeatable in five matches, followed by Ron Stanley and Glen Schellenberg with four of five matches in their favour. High scorer for the Crew – with 140 and 100x5 – was Lee Page. The Eagle Eyes, brought along a new player to play, Rodney Arnold, to fill in for Tedd Ducker while he’s away. Leading the wins for the Eagles Eyes – Harry Vanheerwaarden – was also unbeatable in his five matches as well, along with hitting the team’s high score of 134, 125, 116, and 100, WAY TO GO HARRY!

The Eagles Hall was the venue for the match between the Toolshed Triples and the Qualicum Legion B‑Sharps on Tuesday night. Starting off equally strong, the Triples tripped up in the middle of the match, giving the B-Sharps the opportunity to get ahead, the B-Sharps kept up the pressure through to the end winning the match 21 to 12. Leading the wins for the B-Sharps was a four way tie – Stan and Sue Foster, Betty Ann Moffatt and Captain Colleen McNeill – all won three matches each. High score for the night went to Stan Foster with a 121. Top wins for the Toolshed Triples was also a tie between Captain Wendy Haines and Jim Hood – both winning four of their six matches. High scorer for the Triples was Jim Hood with 140, 121, and 100x3.

Coming out doubling, the Shooters took the lead and kept it right through to the end, final score 23 to 10 for the Shooters. Leading the wins for the Shooters, Larry MacDonald was unbeatable, winning all five of his matches. Right behind him, Thom Ford, Lorraine Hopps and Captain Lloyd Ausland each won four of five matches. High score for the Shooters – 140 – was shot by Larry MacDonald. Leading the wins for the Arrows, Poul Reimer and John Curtis each won three of five matches. High scorer was John Curtis with 120 and 100.

The X-Men flexed their muscles early, taking the first set five-zero, and setting the tone for the remainder of the game, final score 18 to 15 for the X-Men. Leading the wins for the X-Men, Rob Sparrow and Glen Dilworth each doubled out first in four of their five matches. High score for the X-Men was 122, shot by Rob Sparrow. Heading the charge against the X-Men, Angie Kienas lead the wins for the Bulls Hitters, doubling out four of her six matches, shooting scores of 126, 125, 100x3 to get there. Following right behind her, Ray Jones and Bernie Brockway both won three of their six matches. High scorer for the Hitters was Ray Jones with a 168, putting him in 2nd place on the Leader Board, way to go RAY!
