Week 13 Dart Action
The Parksville Legion hosted the Island Equipment Rental Warriors and the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows. Welcoming the Leagues’ newest spare, Dan Stanton joined the Warriors and put three wins on the scoresheet. Starting strong and staying strong, the Warriors out-doubled the Straight Arrows 18 to 15. Leading the wins for the Warriors, Darren Tabler took five of his six matches; followed by Fish Trouton who brought four wins to the final score. High scorer for the Warriors, Ron Hession shot a 134. Leading the wins for the Straight Arrows, Poul Reimer doubled out four of his five matches; followed by John Curtis’ three wins in five matches and high score of 154 – putting him on the Leader Board.

Also playing at the Parksville Legion, the Cascadia Bristle Bashers met with the Comfort Group X-Men. Seven players strong, the X-Men weren’t strong enough to overpower the Bristle Bashers – final score Bashers 24 – X-Men 9. Leading the wins, Don Enockson went undefeated in five games. Steve Collins, Dustin Fee and Warren Potter each added four wins to the total score. High scorers for the Bashers, Noella Ross and Don Enockson both shot 133’s. Two was the magic number of wins for the X-Men and Steve Stewart, Dave Wishlow, Glen Dilworth and Pony Moore all made magic for their team. High scorer for the X-Men, Captain Pony Moore shot a 156 – putting him on the Leader Board.

Playing at home, the Qualicum Legion Short Sighted Crew hosted the Parksville Legion Shooters to a fun night of darts. Starting strong and staying steady, the Shooters outshot the Crew 21 to 12. Leading the wins for the Shooters, Larry MacDonald was unbeatable in six matches. Shoring up Larry’s shutout, Lorraine Hopps, George Wallis and Thom Ford each added four wins to the score. High score for the Shooters was George Wallis with a 148. Leading the wins for the Short Sighted Crew, Captain Don Punter doubled out against four of his opponents. High scorer was Ernie Berrow with a 155.

Qualicum Legion teams the Bulls Hitters and B-Sharps played it out, with the home team, Bulls Hitters, victorious over the away team – 20 to 13. Leading the wins for the Bulls Hitters, Alan Farmer and Bernie Brockway both won five of six matches. Bernie was the team high scorer with a 162, putting him well onto the Leader Board. Leading the wins for the B-Sharps, Arless McNeill finished four of his five matches successfully, as well as achieving team high score of 140.

Playing at the Eagles Hall, the Toolshed Triples hosted the Allwood Finishers to a fun night of darts – final score Allwood 29 – Triples 4. Four Finishers were unbeatable, Gerry James, Richard Rempel, Larry Fuller and Mike Jacobs, won all five of their matches, with Larry Fuller hitting team high score of 137. High score for the Triples – 138 – was shot by Greg Holmes.

Week 12 Dart Highlights
Heading into the second round of league play, Eagle Hall Eagle Eyes hosted the Eagles Hall Straight Arrows at the Eagles Hall this week. Getting off to a shaky start, the Eagle Eyes weren’t able to keep up to the Straight Arrows, final score 22 to 11. Proving nearly unbeatable, Poul Reimer and John Curtis barely missed an opportunity to double out, both winning five of their six matches. Team high score was 135, shot by Ron Keast. Leading the wins for the Eagle Eyes, Captain Mike McNulty was unbeatable in all five of his matches. Harry Vanheerwaarden won three of five matches and shot his first perfect score – 180 – in match play – WAY TO GO HARRY! Alan Barry had the team high scores of 124 and 140.

Allwood Finishers hosted the Qualicum Beach Legion B-Sharps at the Qualicum Legion on Tuesday night. Showing her improving skill, B-Sharps’ Captain, Colleen McNeill, rattled the darts of her opponents, by winning her doubles match (along with partner Anna Daschuk) and then doubling out on the Finishers’ Richard Rempel and Larry Fuller. The Finishers’ sharpened their darts, and at the end of the night came away with 24 wins to the B-Sharps 9 wins. Leading the wins for the Finishers’ was the unbeatable Gerry James, who won all five of his matches. Right behind him, Captain Jolene Swanson and Larry Fuller each won four of their five matches. High score for the Finishers – 140 – was shot by both Richard and Larry. Leading the wins for the B-Sharps, Arless McNeill won three of six games, and had team high score of 137.

Starting off strong, the Short Sighted Crew kept up the pressure for the first half and ultimately came out ahead 20 to 13 against the Bulls Hitters. Leading the wins for the Short Sighted Crew, Peter Bisiker and Lee Page both won all five of their matches. High scorer for the Crew was Darren Field, who shot a 140, 132 and 100. Leading the wins for the Bulls Hitters, Captain Peter “Spinksy” Spinks won four of six matches. High score for the Hitters was shot by Alan Farmer – shooting 140, 105 and 100.

Playing at the Parksville Legion, the Legion Shooters hosted the Cascadia Bristle Bashers, to a fun night of darts. Building slowly, the Shooters out-doubled the Bristle Bashers 18 to their 15. Leading the wins for the Shooters, Larry MacDonald won five of his six matches, as well as team high score of 140, 123, 100x3. Cascadia’s newcomer, Warren Potter, lead the wins for the Bashers, winning four of his five matches. Don Enockson shot the team high scores of 131 and 117.

Playing on the adjoining boards at the Legion, the Comfort Group X-Men met with the Island Equipment Rentals Warriors for a fun-filled night of darts. Playing pretty evenly throughout the night, the X-Men played well enough in the third leg to get ahead of the Warriors and come out victorious, final score 18 to 15 for the X-Men. Leading the wins for the X-Men, both Glen Dilworth and Dave Wishlow won four of their five matches. High scorer for the X-Men, Rob Sparrow, got himself on the Leader Board with a score of 156, along with scores of 111, 100x2. Playing well, Chad “Fish” Trouton won all six of his matches Tuesday night; with scores of 140x5, 135, 125 and a perfect 180, it’s not a wonder he was doubling out before most of his opponents even got close. Newcomer to the Warriors, Darren Tabler won three of his six games.
