Week 18 Dart Highlights
The Eagles Hall Straight Arrows hosted the Comfort Group X-Men to a fun night of darts at the Eagles Hall. The six-player team went up against the seven-players and the Men took the lead, winning the match 21 to 12. Leading the wins for the X-Men, Captain Pony Moore, Dave Wishlow and Glen Dilworth were unbeatable all night – bringing 13 wins to the night collectively. High Scorers for the X-Men, Glen Dilworth and Steve Stewart each shot a 140. Top wins for the Straight Arrows was shared between Ron Keast and Poul Reimer, each winning three of their five matches. Team High score – 120 – was shot by John Curtis.

Darts were flying fast and furious at the Parksville Legion Tuesday night when the Legion Shooters played Home to the Island Equipment Rentals Warriors’ Away. Holding their own until the fourth set, the Warriors stumbled and the Shooters shot ahead, winning the match 19 to 14. Larry McDonald lead the wins for the Shooters, five of six matches, as well as shot TWO 180’s and a 140,135x2, 100x5 – no wonder Larry is at the top of the standings – he’s incredible! Leading the Warrior wins, Chad “Fish” Trouton bested four of his five opponents and had a high score of 140, 128, 100x2. Spare Colin Adams brought three wins to the match, and shot a 140, 123, 100x2.

Also playing at the Parksville Legion Tuesday night, the Cascadia Bristle Bashers bested the Qualicum Legion Bulls Hitters 25 to 8. Terry Strawson was playing his best and won all six matches, along with a 180, team High Score of 140 and 121, 102 and 100x2. Team mate Steve Collins was also in fine form, unbeatable in his six matches and scoring 135 and 120. Three of the Bulls Hitters were able to take two matches each from the Bashers, Barb Marsh, Alan Farmer and Captain Peter “Spinksy” Spinks lead the wins for the Hitters. Team High Score of 121 was thrown by Ray Jones in the first set.

The Qualicum Legion hosted the Qualicum Legion Short Sighted Crew and the Allwood Finishers to a very closely matched night of darts. With five on each team it was a fast paced evening, starting off with the Crew taking all three of the doubles matches. The Finishers soon caught up and it was neck and neck to the 28th game, when the Allwood Finishers took the entire last set, final score Finishers 19 – Crew 14. Leading the wins for the Finishers, Larry Fuller was unconquerable in all six matches and had team High Out of 110. Shoring up Larry’s wins, Gerry James doubled out five of six and Jolene Swanson was victorious four of six matches, along with scores of 107 and 104x2. Mike Jacobs had team High Score of 116. Leading the wins for the Crew was a three way tie of three wins for Lee Page, Ron Stanley and Ernie Berrow each. High scorer for the Crew, Lee Page shot a 140x2, 111, 107 and 100x4.

Back at the Eagles Hall, the Toolshed Triples met with the Eagles Hall Eagle Eyes and the Eyes took the night with 22 wins over the Triples. Leading the wins for the Eagle Eyes, Toni Crompton, Harry Vanheerwaarden and Rodney Arnold only lost one each of their matches. High Score went to Alan Barry with a 144, putting him on the Leader Board. Leading the wins for the Toolshed Triples, Doug White doubled out against four of his six opponents and shot team High Score of 114.
