Week 8 Results
Despite starting off by losing three doubles matches, the Qualicum Legion’s B-Sharps bested the British Bobbie Warriors 18-15, with the Sharp’s Jason Samm’s leading the wins with six for six and the evening’s high score of 135. The Warrior’s Dale Simpson was his team’s high scorer, with a 134, and Captain Ruth Kovacs won three of her five games played.

Following in the footsteps of the B-Sharps, the Allwood Finishers lost all three doubles matches to the Qualicum Legion’s Short Sighted Crew. Playing at the Sunset Lanes, the Finishers managed to come out ahead with a final score of 18-15, largely due to Larry Fuller’s five for five wins and a high out of 116 against the Crew’s John Eyre. Fish Trouton followed suit with four wins out of five games played. Finisher’s top scorer of the night was Captain Jolene Swanson with a 130. The Short Sighted Crew had some impressive scores as well, Don Punter leading with a 133, Ron Stanley with a 125 and Anne O’Sullivan with a 121. John Eyre and Ernie Berrow tied for most wins, each with three wins for five singles matches played.

The Express Custom Bulls Hitters and the Parksville Legion’s Straight Arrows battled back and forth through six sets of singles, with the Bulls Hitters coming out ahead by a single point at the end of the match. Bernie Brockway led the teams’ wins with five for five matches played. Top score for the Bulls Hitters was a 132, thrown by Angie Kienas. With the Straight Arrows captain, Shirley Ewert, off with injuries they gave a newly recruited spare a chance to show his skills. Derek Carter proved his worth with three wins for six games, chalking up scores of 100 and 109 helped him for sure - welcome to the league Derek! Straight Arrows top scorer of the night was acting Captain, Sonja Twamley with a 131, followed by Mike McNulty with a 123, Don McIlhargey was right behind him with a 122. High Out for the Arrows was Mike McNulty’s 88 out, putting him on the list for this season’s high outs.

League leaders, Cascadia Bristle Bashers trounced the Toolshed Triples with a whopping 28-5 win. With seven Bristle Basher members playing, three of the seven had a clean sweep – Tedd Ducker, Terry Strawson and Noella Ross. Newest addition to the Bristle Basher’s, Richard Rempel, scored this season’s second perfect score, and he also joined the High Outs list with an 88 checkout – Congratulations Richard! The Toolshed’s Alan Barry led the team wins for the night with three out of five games played. High scorer for the Triples was Wendy Haines with a 119.

Week 9 Results
The Qualicum Legion B-Sharps hosted the Allwood Finishers with the Finisher’s coming out 21-12 at the end of the match. Allwood’s Larry Fuller began the night by scoring a perfect 180 in his first singles game. He followed the 180 with scores of 133 and 3x100 to win six of his six matches. Congrats Larry! Gerry James brought his A-game as well and captured five wins in six games; close behind Gerry, Harry Vanheerwaarden pulled four wins out of his darts. Captain Jolene Swanson scored 100, 101 and a 111, but failed to turn those high scores into more than 2 wins. The calm demeanour of the B-Sharp’s Arless McNeill, belies his desire to win, yet his wins topped the B-Sharps roster with four of six matches played and a high score of 140. Overall high scorer was Nikki Sumner with a 156, Jason Samms scored a 100, 121 and a 140 to win 50% of his matches.

Parksville Legion’s Shooters showed the Toolshed Triples how to double out 27-6, with Tom Ford leading the wins with five for five matches and scores of 100, 123, 127 and 140. Lloyd Ausland, Lorraine Hopps, Pat Bannister and Jim Fraser all won four of their five matches, Lorraine topping the scoreboard with a 140 and Lloyd a 134. Toolshed’s Alan Barry won four of his six matches and a high score of 116. Most high scores for the Triple’s belonged to Jim Hood, who scored 100, 120, 126 and 140.

The Cascadian Bristle Bashers were guests at the Qualicum Legion and bested the home team, Short Sighted Crew, 22 to 11. Basher’s Tedd Ducker was unbeaten, and Don Enocksen and Terry Strawson missed only one match each to get five wins in six matches. Top Scorer for the Bristle Bashers was Terry Strawson with 100x3, 105, and a 140. Don Enocksen also shot a 140 and Tedd’s top score was 112. Leading the Short Sighted Crew in wins was Anne O’Sullivan with three wins in five matches. Top scores were Don Punter’s 125 and Anne’s 117.

The British Bobbie Warriors played at the Sunset Lanes one final night before making the decision to play freelance at both Legions for the rest of the season. The Express Custom Bulls Hitters joined the Warriors for the night, topping the wins 24-9. The Bulls Hitters put on a true team effort with Angie Kienas, Alan Farmer, Bernie Brockway and Peter Spinks all winning four of five matches each. Top Scorer for the Hitters was Anita Hopps with a 134, Bernie Brockway shot a 133 and 125 and Alan Farmer hit a 123. Quiet and cool, Dale Simpson lead the Warriors wins with three for six matches played and the teams high score for the evening – a 133. Captain Ruth Kovacs shot high scores of 100, 112 and 132. Ron Hession had two high scores – 116 and 117 – and matched two wins with both Ruth and Kelly Kovacs. Next week the Warriors meet the Allwood Finishers at the Qualicum Legion.

Week 7 Results
Showing that the Allwood Finishers put their bye week to good use practicing at the Sunset Lanes, they finished well ahead of the Toolshed Triples with a 24-9 victory. Allwood’s finest won five for five – Larry Fuller, Fish Trouton and Gerry James – backed up by most-improved player, Harry Vanheerwaarden, who won four out of five of his matches and achieved the team’s top score of 133. Top scorer for the Triple’s was Alan Barry with a 115, and Jim Hood and Toni Crompton both scored a 100.

Express Custom Bulls Hitters bested the Qualicum Legion’s B-Sharps with an 18-15 win. Bernie Brockway was the Bulls Hitters best with five for five wins and top score of 140, along with 100 x2. Ray Jones scored a 114 to get onto the rankings board. High scorer for the B-Sharps was Arless McNeil with a 140. Jason Samms scored a 100 and 121; Nikki Sumner showed her scoring skills again this week with a 125 and a 105. However, it was Captain, Colleen McNeil’s 100 out that topped the team’s night, adding her name to the Ladies High Outs list.

Playing from the Sunset Lanes, the British Bobbie Warriors hosted the Qualicum Legion’s Short Sighted Crew. Like a good host, they allowed the Short Sighted Crew to win 21 of the 33 matches played. Peter Bisiker, the Crew’s lead player for the night, won all five of his matches played. Top scorer was John Eyre with a 124, 133 and a 140. Ron Stanley joined John in winning four out of five games each. The youngest Warrior - Kelly Kovacs - bested John Eyre, ending the League’s top player’s 24 game personal winning streak, well done!! The most senior Warrior – Dale Simpson – topped the score sheet with a 101, 114 and a 129, helping him win three matches.

Score sheet confusion didn’t stop the Parksville Legion’s Straight Arrows from narrowly winning over their fellow Legion team – the Shooters – 17 to 16. Stu Dunn, Don McIlhargey and Mike McNulty’s four of six game wins, as well as Stu’s scores of 118, 120, 121 and 133, led the team to victory. Shooter Tom Ford’s scores of 100, 127, 131 and 139 resulted in winning five of six matches played. Captain, Lloyd Ausland, hit the rankings board with a 115, however, it was Sonja Twamley’s win over the unbeaten Tom Ford that put the Arrows in front at the end of the night.
