Cascadian Bristle Bashers defeated their hosts, the Express Custom Bulls Hitters, 21 to 12 at the Qualicum Legion Tuesday night. Leading the Bashers were Terry Strawson and Richard Rempel, who were both undefeated in their five matches. Noella Ross came close as well, winning four out of five games played. Top scorer was Richard Rempel with 100x3, 140x2 and a 107 checkout. Tedd Ducker shot a 100, 120 & 140 in one game alone, plus another couple 100’s to put him near the top of the scores for the night. Angie Kienas lead the wins for the Bulls Hitters with three wins in five games, she also had top score of 119 and 100x2.

Proving no match for the Short Sighted Crew, the Toolshed Triples could only find three wins against the Crew. After winning two of the three doubles matches, the Triples’ Doug White over the Crew’s Anne O’Sullivan was the only other Toolshed win for the night. Five of the Short Sighted Crew won five for five matches and high scorer was Peter Bisiker with 100x2, 140 and John Eyre with 122, 125 and 131.

With Captain Shirley Ewert back at the oche, the Straight Arrows bested the British Bobbie Warriors 21 to 12. After weeks of injury recovery, Shirley was back in her best form – winning five of six matches played. Top scorer for the Arrows was Mike McNulty with 138 and Don McIlhargey shot a 125. Leading the Warriors for wins was Kelly Kovacs who doubled out four games of six played and a high score of 118. Ron Hession shot 100x2 and won three of his games.

Another week of “just wiring the doubles” by the Allwood Finishers let the Legion Shooters shoot ahead of them in the standings, taking over the Allwood’s long standing spot in second place. Lloyd Ausland and Lorraine Hopps led the 20 accumulated wins by finishing five of six matches each. Rounding out the teams wins with three apiece – Pat Bannister, Tom Ford and Viviane Papineau – pulled the team firmly into second place position. Larry Fuller found the doubles in four of five matches played and had a high score of 134. High scorers for the Finishers were Fish Trouton and Harry Van Heerwaarden with 140.

Rested up after a week off, the Express Custom Bulls Hitters doubled out 24 games against the Toolshed Triples. Leading the Bulls Hitters for wins was Bernie Brockway with five wins in five matches. Following closely behind, Peter Spinks, Ray Jones, and Angie Kienas won four of their five matches. High scorer for the Bulls Hitters were Alan Farmer and Bernie Brockway, each with a score of 100. Doug White topped the scoreboard for the Triples with a 119. Jim Hood, Wendy Haines and Alan Barry each won two of their matches.

Fully rostered this week, the Qualicum Legion B-Sharps met with the Parksville Legion Straight Arrows for a match ending in 21-12 for the Straight Arrows. Top wins for the Arrows were Stu Dunn and Eric Landstrom, who won all five of their matches, followed by Don McIlhargey with four wins out of five. High scorer for the Arrows was Mike McNulty with a 140 and Don McIlhargey shot a 122 and 125. Arless McNeill led the B-Sharps wins with three wins for four matches played. New league spare, Lee Page, topped the scoresheet with two 140’s and three 100’s and won 50% of his matches. Great job Lee, welcome to the league!

Parksville Legion was the venue for the Legion Shooters and the nomadic British Bobbie Warriors, with the Shooters outshooting the Warriors 21-12. Top wins for the Shooters were Lorraine Hopps, Tom Ford and Jim Fraser – all with four wins for five matches played. Top scorers for the Shooters was Viviane Papineau with a 171, Tom Ford with 100, 131 and 140; Lloyd Ausland shot a 140 as well; but it was Lorraine Hopps who was ‘on fire’ with 100x4, 109, 120 and a 90 checkout. Warriors fought hard and Dale Simpson and Ruth Kovacs won three of their six matches with Ruth getting a high score of 115. Ron Hession topped the scores with a 121.

Meeting at the Sunset Lanes, the Allwood Finishers were overtaken by the Cascadian Bristle Bashers 23-10. Fish Trouton lead the wins with four of his five matches victorious; he also had high out for the night with a two-dart 100 out. Gerry James won three of five games and his 97 checkout put him on the website leaderboard. Larry Fuller had high scores of 119, 125 and 133. The full Cascadian Bristle Basher team filled the bar room, and the doubles beds, with Dustin Fee coming out as the top wins for the Bashers – four for four. Tedd Ducker, Noella Hopps, Terry Strawson, Don Enocksen and Mike Driscoll all won three out of their four matches. Top scorer for the Bashers was Richard Rempel with a 140, 125 and 100x3. Mike Driscoll shot a 125, 132 and 134. Tedd Ducker shot a 140 and five 100’s.

The Allwood Finishers hosted the Express Custom Bulls Hitters at the Sunset Lanes and narrowly defeated the Hitters 17-16. Top scorers for the Finishers were Gerry James and Fish Trouton – both besting four of their five opponents. Allwood’s Larry Fuller started his night by shooting a 177 in his first match, followed by a 180 and a 123 in his next game, congrats on topping the League’s Men’s High Scores Larry! Top Scorers for the Bulls Hitters were Bernie Brockway – 133; Alan Farmer – 126; Angie Kienas – 122.
In a “Battle of Legions” the Parksville Legion’s Shooters outlasted the Qualicum Legion’s B-Sharps, largely due to the automatic 7 points achieved simply because (again) the B-Sharps didn’t have a full team. Three wins of five matches was the majority for the Shooters, top scorers Lloyd Ausland and Tom Ford both shot a 100. The B-Sharps Arless and Colleen McNeill outplayed every member of the Shooters with Arless winning six for six and Colleen four for six. Arless scored a 140 and two 100’s. Final score Shooters 18 - B-Sharps 15.
Playing like Warriors, the British Bobbie Warriors tried their best to best the top team in the league, but the Cascadian Bristle Bashers took every point they could, coming away with 27 wins over the Warriors. Dustin Fee and Terry Strawson shared top spot this week by winning 100% of their matches, followed by Richard Rempel and Noella Ross with four wins out of five games each. Richard Rempel picked up a second Perfect Score as well – Congrats Richard on the 180! Warrior Captain, Ruth Kovacs, doubled out before both Captain Mike Driscoll and Tedd Ducker and Kelly Kovacs improved his league rating by successfully taking on Tedd Ducker and Richard Rempel. Ruth and Dale Simpson both shot a 140; Kelly two 134’s and Jackie Anderson a 109.
It was a close match when the Short Sighted Crew and the Straight Arrows were able to make up their missed game on January 4 at the Qualicum Legion. Leading the wins for the Crew were John Eyre and Don Punter, both with four wins for six matches played. High score went to Ron Stanley with a 140 and 133. Ernie Berrow shot 132, 123 and 100 and was 50% successful in wins. Top scorer for the Straight Arrows were Don McIlhargey and Erik Landstrom - both won five of six matches. High Scorer for the Arrows was Don McIlhargey with a 140. Final score 17-16 for the home team, the Short Sighted Crew.

Parksville Legion’s own Straight Arrows brought their A-Game against the Toolshed Triples finishing with a 25-8 score. With Captain, Shirley Ewert, still sidelined by injury the remaining six players on the team stepped up. Stu Dunn, Eric Landstrom and Mike McNulty were unbeatable – all scoring five wins and zero losses. High scorers for the Arrows were Stu Dunn – 117, 122, 133 and 135; Eric Landstrom scored 127, 134 and then joined the “Perfect Score” list with his first 180 of the season – Congrats Eric! Don McIlhargey shot a 140 to top the score board for the Arrows. The Toolshed Triples high scorers were Doug White – 120; Alan Barry – 114; Susan Barry – 100; and Jim Hood – 100. Top wins for the Triples were Jim Hood and Susan Barry.

Qualicum Legion Short Sighted Crew threw victorious over the Parksville Legion Shooters. Top wins for the Crew was five wins for five games for John Eyre. Ron Stanley, Ernie Berrow and Don Punter followed closely behind with four out of five games won. Top scorer for the Crew was Ernie Berrow with 133 and 124; Don Punter shot a 133; Ron Stanley 121; Anne O’Sullivan 115; John Eyre 112. High scorer for the Legion Shooters was Lloyd Ausland with a 140; Lorraine Hopps shot a 120; as did Jim Fraser; and Pat Bannister added his name to “Men’s High Score” list with an impressive 110 checkout.

Struggling to fill the ranks, the B-Sharps once again played short-handed against the Cascadian Bristle Bashers – automatically forfeiting 7 points to the Bashers. Four of the seven Bristle Bashers had a clean sweep – Tedd Ducker, Richard Rempel, Noella Hopps and Terry Strawson – winning all of their matches. High scorers for the Bashers were Noella Hopps with 140; Dustin Fee with 125; Richard Rempel with 123. League spare, Chris Androsoff, threw some high scores – 116 & 111 – making her a welcome addition to any team! Jason Samms and Colleen McNeill plucked two wins each from the Bashers grasp and Arless McNeill showed Mike Driscoll how to double out, giving the B-Sharps five wins for the night.
